Quick start for contributors
Welcome to Steady, the lightweight teamwork OS that keeps people and agents aligned automatically.
Steady runs the two coordination loops every team relies on:
- The ground-level loop keeps teammates — human and agent — in sync day to day, through lightweight smart check-ins.
- The big-picture loop connects plans to progress, through goal stories and goal story updates.
Echoes run on top of both: AI agents that answer your recurring questions — "What goals are slipping?", "What did the Ops team ship last week?" — on a schedule, pulling from check-ins, goals, and your connected tools.
Getting started is just getting both loops flowing, then putting Echoes to work on top. Find yourself below and jump in.
Just invited? Get set up
There's nothing you need to read first -- start by getting set up. A few minutes here makes everything downstream smoother:
- Fill out your profile -- name, headshot, title, and a short bio so teammates know who you are.
- Connect your calendar -- completed events get pulled in automatically alongside your check-ins, so you don't have to retype what you already did.
- Set your notifications -- choose when and where Steady reminds you. By default, reminders arrive at 9 AM via email and your connected channel (Slack or Microsoft Teams).
- Mark any time off -- Steady pauses check-in prompts while you're out.
- Get the app -- the desktop app (Mac and Windows) gives you native notifications and a one-click check-in. You can also install Steady on your phone.

You may already have a check-in waiting -- if so, in-app onboarding walks you through it in a couple of minutes. The rest of this page is here when you want to go deeper.
Keep your team in the loop (the ground-level loop)
Check-ins are how your team stays coordinated without status meetings. Each one answers three questions: what you did, what you intend to do next, and whether anything's blocking you.
- Let AI do the first draft. Quick Fill pulls from your connected tools -- GitHub, Jira, Linear, and more -- and your last intentions to pre-fill the update. You edit instead of starting from scratch.
- You never have to remember. Steady reminds you when it's time, on the days your team chose.
- Check in from anywhere. Use the Check-in button in the app, or the desktop app.

Stay in sync on projects (the big-picture loop)
If you're assigned to a goal, Steady reminds you to post updates on your progress. Lead with what your team needs to know, set a status -- on track, at risk, or off track -- and your update flows automatically to the right people via the digest, email, and your connected channels.
Over time, each goal builds a complete story from start to finish.

Stay up to speed
This is the payoff -- context comes to you instead of you chasing it:
- The digest delivers a personalized feed of teammates' check-ins and goal updates, right where you work.
- Team Highlights distill what your team is up to into a single sentence, with the activity behind it.
- Echoes answer recurring questions about your work automatically, on a schedule.
- Follow teams or goals beyond your own to widen your view.

Working with AI agents?
Steady connects to your personal assistants through its MCP server and API -- bring the context from both loops into the tools where you already work. And coming very soon: agents that check in on their own, participating in the loops right alongside people.
- MCP server -- connect Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-aware assistants.
- API reference -- integrate Steady with your tools and systems.
