Add a team member
To add a new team member, go to the Teams & People page and select “Edit members” from the menu on the corresponding team.
From the Members page, select “Add members” and choose to add new team members.
When you add a team member, they’ll receive a notification email explaining Steady and inviting them to sign in.
“Member of a different workspace” errors
When the email address is already attached to another Steady workspace, adding the person returns an error like:
name@example.com is a member of a different workspace. Contact support for help.
This means the person you’re inviting already has their own workspace under that email — often one created by accident, or a trial they’ve since cancelled. Each email address can belong to only one Steady workspace at a time, and even a cancelled workspace keeps its email address reserved, so it can’t join yours until the other workspace is removed.
This is not a subscription or seat limit — upgrading your plan won’t clear it.
To resolve it:
- Check with the person you’re inviting. If they recognize the other workspace and it was created by mistake, contact support and we can remove it so the email address can join your workspace.
- If they want to keep their other workspace, invite them under a different email address instead.
- If you use SCIM provisioning, the same situation surfaces as a
409 Conflict(“Email has already been taken”) — see the SCIM troubleshooting steps for clearing it.
